Senior or Specialist Worker Route

You may be eligible for a Global Mobility Visa under the Senior or Specialist Worker route to work at your employer's UK branch if you are working for a Home Office approved sponsor overseas.

How long this visa allows you to live in the UK is based on the length of work stated in your certificate of sponsorship. As a general rule, you may be granted up to 5 years' stay at a time.

When your visa expires, whether you can apply for an extension depends on your maximum total stay which is 5 years in any 6 year period if your salary is below £73,900, and 9 years in any 10 year period if above. Any time you have spent in the UK on other Global Mobility or Intra-company visas will count towards your maximum stay quota.

You will not be able to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK on this visa.

However, your partner and children may be eligible to apply to live in the UK with you as part of your application.

Eligibility

The minimum salary requirement is £42,400 and your job must be listed under the UKVI's eligible occupations. If your salary is below £73,900 per year, you will only be eligible for this route after working for your employer over a minimum of 12 months.

Before applying, you must have a certificate of sponsorship from your employer.

Graduate Trainee Route

How long this visa allows you to live in the UK is based on the length of work stated in your certificate of sponsorship. As a general rule, you may be granted up to 12 months' stay at a time.

You can only apply under the Graduate Trainee route from outside the UK, so when your visa expires you cannot extend your visa. Instead, you must leave the UK to make a fresh application from another country.

Under this route, your maximum stay in the UK is 5 years in any 6 year period so you may be eligible to reapply if you have not yet reached the quota. Any time you have spent in the UK on other Global Business Mobility or Intra-company visas will count towards your maximum stay quota.

You will not be able to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK on this visa.

Eligibility

The minimum salary requirement is £23,100 and your job must be listed under the UKVI's eligible occupations.

You will only be eligible for this route after working a minimum of 3 months for your employer immediately before the date you apply.
